HASTASANA - HANDSTAND (Series)

HASTASANA

Beginning:
A:
*Facing a wall, place your palms on the floor shoulder width apart two feet from the wall arching your back.
*Bring your shoulders directly over your wrists.
*Look up and kick your feet to the wall keeping your legs straight.
*Bring one foot off the wall then the other finding balance on your hands. (If you’re going to fall, fall back to the wall so you can try again).
B:
*Face the other direction and walk your feet up the wall until your legs are parallel with the floor.
*Hold to develop strength!

Intermediate:
*Stand away from the wall.
*Place your hands on the floor shoulder width apart, and extend your arms.
*Bring your shoulders directly over your wrists.
*Kick your feet up toward the ceiling finding balance on your hands.

Advanced:
*Stand away from the wall.
*Place your hands on the floor shoulder width apart, and extend your arms.
*Bring your shoulders directly over your wrists.
*Walk your feet to your head and keeping your legs straight and toes pointed allow them to lift smoothly off the floor all the way up to Hastasana. You can either keep your legs together or separate your legs in a straddle split.
*Bring your right leg down into Half Lotus, (ARDHA-PADMASANA), then the left leg to lotus (PADMASANA).
*Extend your lotus up toward the ceiling scoot your tailbone under. Hold for ten seconds.
*Fold your lotus down to your chest. Hold for ten seconds.
*Lift your lotus back up toward the ceiling. Hold for ten seconds.
*Straighten your legs up toward the ceiling back to Hastasana. Hold for ten seconds.
*Separate your legs out into a Straddle split. Hold for ten seconds.
