Have you been thinking about taking the plunge and finally attending your first yoga class? Yoga is so much fun, and it can whip your body into shape like never before; it is no wonder why it is such a world wide sensation! Unfortunately, if you don’t know what to expect from yoga, your first class can scare you away for good. At the Barkan Method, our goal is to help you to get the most out of your yoga practice. That is why we have come up with these tips on how to prepare for your first hot yoga class in our Ft. Lauderdale studio:
- Arrive early- When you show up late for your first hot yoga class, you are not only interrupting the class, but you are also robbing yourself of time that you could be relaxing and getting into your practice. You will also need to fill out some paperwork before class starts, so give yourself at least 15 minutes.
- Wear clothes that you can move in- No one expects you to go out and drop a pretty penny on expensive yoga clothes for your first class, but you should still wear clothes that are comfortable, lightweight, and non-restrictive.
- Talk to your teacher- Don’t be afraid to have a quick conversation with your yoga teacher before class to let them know that you are a beginner.
- Be open- You will most likely experience many new and exciting things in your yoga practice. Don’t shy away from a challenge or sell yourself short. In order to get the most out of your practice, you will need to be open to all of the possibilities that come from it.
