Lisa Goodwin


Lisa Goodwin is an ERYT500 yoga trainer, inspirational speaker and life coach. She blends both yoga and life coaching into her worldwide workshops and retreats, creating a unique experience for her students. As the Barkan Method’s most senior teacher, Lisa Goodwin has helped certify over 600 yoga teachers. Lisa Goodwin has been certified in many different styles of yoga as well as Motivational Coaching, Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Reiki (Level I and II).

As a community activist, Goodwin saw a need and designed a program called The Conversation Continues to help people address life challenges using her life coaching skills. Meeting once a month at a center endorsed by the City of Fort Lauderdale, the successful program is in its second year. Women In Distress-Broward County is the recipient of the donations received at Lisa Goodwin’s monthly program at George English Park in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In her The Conversation Continues speaking engagements, Goodwin focuses her attention on personal development and relationship skills needed in daily life. Some of her topics include: Change One Word, Change Your Life, Acceptance Versus Forgiveness, and Creating The Life You Love.

Lisa Goodwin is a Yoga Teacher and Teacher Trainer with nineteen years of experience and has led workshops all over the world. Since 2004, Goodwin has led workshops in Costa Rica, Santorini, Massachusetts, Arizona, Arkansas, Tennessee, New York, New Jersey, Colorado, Alaska and Florida. Janet Clark M.D.

Janet Clark M.D., a practicing physician in Iowa City, graduated The Barkan Method Hot Yoga Level I Teacher Training in the spring of 2004.  She began teaching the anatomy sessions for the Level I Trainings in 2005.

Dr. Clark’s understanding and expertise of both The Barkan Method of Hot Yoga and anatomy makes her uniquely qualified for this program. Her approach is very beginner friendly and fun! Janet also teaches a Hot Yoga Anatomy class during the training so students can directly apply the information.

Day Off – Explore all that South Florida has to offer. Unwind at the beach, get a bite to eat at amazing nearby healthy restaurants, and enjoy the downtime with your new yoga friends.


June 23rd beginning at 5:00 PM sharp and will last approximately two hours.

There will be no class at the Orientation. Please arrive at least 20 minutes early.


July 20th at 6:00PM and will last approximately two hours.

Six Month Consistent Yoga Practice

Letter of Recommendation from a Certified Yoga Teacher

Participants must be 21 years or older and be in good physical condition

* A non-refundable deposit of $500.00 is due immediately to hold your room. Full payment is due on May 15th, 2013. Refunds are not available within three weeks of the training.
* Please note – If you decide withing four weeks of the training to stay at the hotel, we cannot guarantee double occupancy.
* Housing is available at the same location as the training, the Ocean Sky Hotel & Resort in Fort Lauderdale. FL
* Guest rooms are of modest standard and include a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, telephone, alarm clock, cable television, and a balcony with an ocean view.
* Available amenities include heated oceanfront swimming pool, outdoor jacuzzi, complimentary towels at the pool, Wi Fi, fitness room, room service and laundry service.
* Higher standard and luxurious accomodations are available upon request.

Pricing for Level I 2013 Housing is:

All applications will be personally reviewed by Jimmy. Upon acceptance to the training we will send you an email confirmation and require a $ 500.00 non-refundable deposit. Submitting your application shows you have read and agree to all the requirements for the program. You will not officially be enrolled until we receive your deposit, and a letter of recommendation from a certified yoga instructor.

Full tuition is due four weeks before the training. We are unable to offer refunds within three weeks of the training.

Curriculum: You must meet all of the application requirements and fully participate in each and every aspect of the training. All participants are required to be on time, attend every class and event with an open mind and open heart.

Continuing Education: Continuing education is an important aspect in any career. It keeps you up to date and refreshed. You will inspire your students as well as yourself when you continue to grow and learn. Graduates will be required to submit a renewal application by the 31st of July of every two years along with a

$ 25.00 annual processing fee.

Level I and Level II Continuing Education Requirements:

In order to keep your Barkan Method Certification current all graduates are required to participate in one CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAM at least every other year. The program must be conducted by Jimmy. Regular classes with Jimmy do not count towards your continuing education requirements. The required programs include posture and teacher clinics. The most important and effective continuing education programs are the Level II/III Teacher Trainings. We recommend that you participate in one Level II program per year. Returning graduates of Level II training participate at half price.

Re-visiting at least 2 posture clinics with Jimmy Barkan (or a total of 4 hours at the Level I Training Posture Clinics) will also count and your participation is always welcome and free of charge. Graduates are required to make a reservation in advance when they will be attending the Level I Clinics.
