Hi Everyone,

Twenty one years is a long time to stand beside someone.

YOUTUBE VIDEO

That is how long I was with Bikram Choudhury before I finally made the decision to walk away. Part 3 of my personal story just went live, and it is the episode I have been building toward since the very first video in this series.

In this one, I get honest about what those 21 years gave me and what they eventually cost me. I talk about the discipline and intensity that shaped me as a teacher, and about the slow shift that eventually led me to leave the only version of Hot Yoga I had ever known. There was real sadness in that decision. I will not pretend otherwise. But there was also a freedom I was not expecting, and looking back, I believe that freedom is what allowed me to eventually develop the Barkan Method.

If you have ever had to walk away from something that shaped who you are, even when you knew it was right, I think this story will resonate with you. Watch the full video below and I would love to hear your own story in the comments.

In Spirit,
Jimmy
